August 26, 2007 A bunch of us lay seige to Pizol. Leila and Rebecca take the Five Lakes hike (it's 4 to 5 hours of mountain walking, but they've only got three and a half). Leila took a few photos of their walk, it looks pretty nice!

Last week Jorge and I had our asses kicked by a 5b (Sonnenuhr) up there, which was not fun, but this time we brought friends and were determined to turn the tables.

Lara and Martijn both led the two 5a routes (Steve Urkel and Lasablick), while Jorge and I respectively led Schmarzfuess (4a) and Tufa Blick (4b) to set up top-ropes for Ashley, Duncan and John. I thought that Tufa was interesting enough that Jorge should lead that one as well. After this Lara and Martijn went to the route of pain (Sonnenuhr, a supposed 5b) down on the far right, and the big bloke laid immediate seige to it. While Martijn fought against major sandbagging, Jorge and I led two routes on the middle section, Miar isch glich (4c) and Oktoberschnee (4b), respectively. While the lads top-roped these routes we watched Martijn slowly defeat Sonnenuhr without incident, he would later agree that the rating given in the book is lower than it should be.
