David Cribb

David with his daughter Brooke (12).

After leaving school I started a carpentry apprenticeship, six months in I fell from the roof of a two story house, and needed a knee reconstruction. After my rehab, I was sick of the coast and moved to Hayman Island, to work as a waterski instructor for a couple of years. Friends from the island, talked me into moving to Perth where I worked in the security management of nightclubs and then the casino. In 1989 I was accepted to commence a scholarship in Strength and Conditioning Coaching at the Institute of Sport in Canberra. This is where I met my wife of 15 years [Lynette]. After my scholarship, the casino in Canberra was opening, and I started working there as a Security Shift Manager. I worked in the industry for another 5 years, opening casino's in Christmas Island, Melbourne and then Brisbane.

My wife then wanted to further her career as a nurse, and was offered a position running the hospital in Longreach. Whilst in Longreach I started an adult apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering and am now a Hydraulic Fitter by trade. When my daughter was due to start school we moved back to Brisbane [Schools aren't too good in Longreach]. Since then I have been working in the Hydraulic industry, for Mining and Oil companies. Until recently most of my work was on a fly in/fly out basis.

Last year my wife Lyn had multiple spinal fusions, so I am now based in Brisbane to help around home a bit more. Hopefully she will recover well enough to allow me to go back to fly in/out work, even though Lyn will never work again.

My daughter Brooke was born in March 1994, and is my pride and joy. Brooke has great musical talent and plays violin, piano, double bass and percussion [I still haven't worked out where the talent came from, not from me].

We live on the northside of Brisbane. I have left all my contact details with Keith and also with Clark. I look forward to catching up with any of you, if you so desire.
