December 26th 2001 - Bensheim, Germany.
Today we walked into Bensheim to do a little window shopping. After that we just relaxed at home.

During our walk around Bensheim, Christoph and I started talking about digital cameras. I wanted to buy one and he, having some experience with this, agreed to help me out. We did see a couple in some shop windows, but the prices were quite steep. So that night we hit the internet ... it looked possible that I could get a decent camera cheaply ... plus I might be able to get it tax-free. Christoph seemed very confident about it, so we resolved to do some serious hunting the next day.

Gudrun returned to Finland in the morning, then Christoph and I went on a frenzied camera hunt (dragging poor Leila around with us) at Frankfurt airport and then in Darmstadt - but we couldn't find the one we were after! We were told that they were sold out at one shop and just not available at others. That night we went to see Lord of the Rings (in english, but funnily enough the incomprehensible elvish dialogue was translated into german subtitles) but Leila and I had already seen the movie back in the US so it was ok. Christoph and I actually found the camera we were looking for at a shop right beside the cinema ... but the asking price there was waay too high. It was very depressing.
We were so busy that no pictures were taken.
